Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information GetTheAmount collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. GetTheAmount is built to be used without an account — the calculators themselves run in your browser and don't require submitting personal information to get a result.
Information we collect
Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form or email us directly, we collect whatever information you choose to include (typically your email address and message content) solely to respond to your inquiry.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages are useful and where visitors run into problems. Google Analytics sets cookies so it can tell one visit from another; Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, your email address is stored with Brevo, our email provider, and used only to send the newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Payment information. If you purchase the Project Planner Pack or make a donation, payment is processed directly by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number — Stripe handles that data under its own privacy and security practices.
Cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to recognise repeat visits, and Google's advertising services set cookies to serve and measure ads, which can include personalising them from your browsing on other sites (see Advertising below). The calculators themselves need no cookies to work.
How we use information
Contact form data is used only to respond to your message. Analytics data is used in aggregate to improve the site's content and usability. We do not sell personal information to third parties.
Advertising
Hosting costs are partly covered by display ads from Google AdSense, which is what keeps the calculators free. Google runs those ads using cookies, both to measure them and, where personalisation is enabled, to choose ads that match what you have browsed on this site and others. In the EEA and the UK a consent message from Google appears first, and personalised-advertising cookies are only set if you agree; the decision can be reversed.
No advertiser influences a calculation. Quantities, waste factors and material estimates are never adjusted for a sponsor, and advertisers do not see pages before they are published. Some pages also link to tools and materials on Amazon as an affiliate, as described in the affiliate disclosure.
Google My Ad Center lists the reasons behind an ad and has the off switch for personalisation; aboutads.info provides a single opt-out from interest-based ads across participating networks. Google explains its advertising cookies in its advertising policies.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate the site: Vercel for hosting, Google for analytics and advertising, Brevo for the newsletter and for delivering contact-form messages to our inbox, and Stripe for payment processing. Each operates under its own privacy policy governing the data it processes on our behalf.
Your choices
You can use most of GetTheAmount without providing any personal information at all. If you've contacted us and want your message data deleted, email contact@gettheamount.com and we'll remove it.
Children's privacy
GetTheAmount is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page with a revised effective date. We encourage checking back periodically if you have concerns about how your information is handled.
